Rendering... | Black Woman &
"Rendering..." is a capstone show where me along with 8 other peers showed our design work at Greensboro Project Space centered around design. My work "Black Woman &" is an ongoing series in which I photograph, edit and create textiles exploring black womanhood and intersectionality, expanding on black female identity in it's various forms and combating this idea of a monolith that society/media is so used to in its depiction of black women. The textiles are created and designed to signify a common thread among the women, unifying their lineage and also my own Zambian heritage. The project does not refute black woman as an identifier but instead expands on that idea and celebrates its diversity.
